The "Jen explains everything ever" corner!
As all of you are probably aware, X is a robot. Though according to the Megaman X series, he's the most human robot in the history of human robots, going so far as to have human bodily functions such as crying, breathing, bleeding, and being able to feel pain -- in this Universe, robots can even fall in love like people can.
So, havingno life much concern as of how in the hell this is going to make sense in a written setting, I've taken it upon myself to come up with excuses reasons why this makes sense, as well as explain other aspects of X's body and internals that will be in use in RP. As a warning, 9/10s of this is headcanon.
This will be in different categories for convenience.
Basic Rundown:
-X can take off his armor and helmet, looking in appearances just like a normal person (albeit much more durable) complete with simulated bodily function (He can't go to the bathroom or vomit or anything, but he can cry, feel pain, drool, and other such things!). His power level is greatly reduced, and he doesn't have his X-buster or dash-boots in his 'human' guise, but he can at least walk around the house without clomping everywhere. Also, he expends less energy in his 'human' form.
-And with a human form, he needs to maintain it, requiring him to bathe and perform hygienic routines much like a normal person.
-X can also eat and recharge just like a person (the food is burned inside his makeshift 'digestive tract', which gets converted to energy that he can use without plugging himself in. Unfortunately, he needs to eat A LOT in order for him to get to full power. Lucky for him, he can smell and taste what it is he's eating?).
-When something's wrong with his systems he'll get physical cues: if he's overheating he'll start to appear feverish and faint; if he's low on energy he'll grow sleepy or hungry; if there's something wrong with his mechanical brain (crashing, starting up too fast, or not shutting down correctly before rebooting, anything like that) he'll get a headache, etc. He already feels physical pain from getting beat up (yes, that is canon), so no reason why he wouldn't have other cues to tell him something's wrong without running diagnostics.
-Yes, he can engage in human sex acts. This is entirely due to the fact that he was built to 'forge his own path', and if he ends up falling in love with someone, he'll want to 'connect' with them (further explanation of this is in another section). That said, he can only do it with his armor off, and it's very unlikely that *ANYONE* will get close to him enough to have him wish to do this. Now does this mean he can reproduce, or do it the same way a human does? Oh God, hell no. He has no real technical 'libido' and is literally incapable of doing this sort of thing with anyone that he's not comfortable enough to put down his firewalls with. I'll extrapolate on this later.
The Nitty-Gritty:
How does X...
Cry?: 'Tear Ducts' behind X's eyes work as a sort of inherent cleaning device, letting out a fresh saline solution that cleans his optics every so often, making sure that his eyes are clear and not clouded by dust or grime (he blinks as well during this cleaning routine, making it seem like he's crying when he isn't). These can also be activated by emotional cues, which lead to human-esque 'crying'.
Drool?: False 'saliva' is constantly formed in X's mouth to keep the inside of it moist, so it doesn't chafe. Mostly it's used to allow him to 'speak' more easily, though it is also used along with 'hunger' to tell him when he's low on charge, and needs to either chug some Liquid Energy, use a Sub-tank, or eat human food until he's more charged up.
Breathe?: The reason X ends up breathing and gasping like a human(other than the fact that Inafune didn't think this bloody far and made him do it because they forgot he was a robot) is because though he doesn't need to breathe to survive, breathing is a pre-programmed subroutine which is used as a natural means to help regulate his temperature while active (it saves energy, and allows his internal fans to kick in only when necessary). The false 'lungs' the air filters through to cool his body off close up the second he gets underwater as a means to keep anything unsavory from going into his internals. Also, things like gasping and heavy breathing can also be triggered with emotional cues, such as when X is frightened or when he's shocked.
Bleed?: This isn't so much 'blood', but rather coolants and an oil 'blood' mixture that is used to keep his insides lubricated and his skin looking flush (this also causes him to 'blush' from time to time when embarrassed or flattered. This isn't a perfect science, so either he'll blush too much, or blush too little, depending on the situation).
Sleep?: Sleep mode, obviously. He's a computer, so he doesn't 'sleep' in the traditional sense. Usually he'll sleep when he's low on charge. He can either just sleep and charge up very slowly (10% every two hours) and plug himself into something so he can charge much faster (30% charge every hour). As it stands, though, X has a pretty long battery life (and his battery doesn't ever go bad as far as I understand, so that's good).
Dream?: Dreaming is a weird one. They're aplot device cop out set of if-else statements that go in X's head responding to environmental phenomena, recent events, and X's own emotional state. Seeing as Reploids can't really 'sleep', they can't go in levels of REM or let out waves like humans can, though it does require them to have a certain degree of 'sleep' for them to do this. And while dreaming, it is actually unsafe for a Reploid to wake up, because with all the feedback and the processors full with the 'dream images', the reploid can actually crash, and be forced to hard-reset (which is never fun, as full, safe start-up can take as long as 20 minutes).
So lay it on me. How does a robot have sex again?: It's not sex in the general sense that we humans consider it. I mean, sure, he can conduct those acts (and does have genitalia and pleasure centers, like humans do), but he doesn't have an inherent 'libido' or a desire to do it like a typical human does. For X, the physical act of sex is intimate and embarrassing because of his nature (especially considering that he is more human than any other Reploid), but for others, this may not be the case. Instead, showing data is taboo and intimate. Much like with humans, the only people who can see this data are their doctors / mechanics, and closest loved ones. While X feels uncomfortable showing people his physical naughty bits, his data -- especially considering that messing with it can quite literally kill him -- is much more intimate, and thus is a greater symbol of trust.
Do Reploids run on a particular OS? What's this 'Periphery' you go on about in posts? : Yes, Reploids work on a particular Operating System to keep them running. X's OS is a special one specially designed by Dr. Light -- fortunately it's extremely compatible with everything, or else X would have one hell of a problem running correctly.Copy X ran on Vista. *SHOT* Periphery is essentially that; a Reploid can 'shut in' to itself and perform things much as a computer would. It can change its vision and access things like downloaded mission data, map files, image data, and even E-Mail if he has access to an internet signal. Regular vision is set on its own separate window (much like a tile-esque, future-y version of Windows), so the Reploid can see what's around them in 'human vision' while he or she are doing these tasks. When using things such as scanners, Reploids go into partial-periphery -- normal 'human' vision with an interface overlay with numbers, data, etc. If they wish, they can have this vision at all times, but not all of them do.
Anything else?: Generally Reploids carry their personality data (or 'control chip') within a near-indestructible jewel on their forehead. This isn't always the case, but X's helmet-jewel does react with surges of power, glowing when he's full of energy.
